Self/PSHCE

One of the key aspects of adulthood is knowing and understanding how to look after ourselves and our bodies, so alongside the KS5 PSHCE curriculum, Post 16 have ‘self’ lessons to focus on vital life skills such as hygiene, teeth brushing, showering and personal care skills. Learners are exposed to, shown and build their independence in completing these skills and these are communicated with home to transfer these skills to home.

For Informal learners, as in home lessons, key skills are explored and practised such as hand washing, washing up, setting the table. Lessons are differentiated to allow all pupils to access the experience of washing up and key skills are repeated in order to provide greater opportunity for success. Informal pupils are encouraged to apply their learning about hand washing and hygiene during personal care.
