Geography

Studying Geography helps us to have a sense of their place in the world. All places and spaces have a history behind them, shaped by humans, earth, and climate. We hope that, through studying geography, students will understand the impact they have on the world. Geography also allows us to explore other countries and cultures, and the similarities between our own experiences and that of others, building empathy and understanding.

For our formal learners, geography will be taught as a discrete subject, while for our semi-formal and informal learners, geography will be taught through topic work in the ‘My World’ strand. We will make links between geography and modern foreign languages through whole school theme days where we explore a different country each term. Students will also enhance their learning with multisensory experiences, visitors to school, exploring artefacts and taking part in trips.
